Renowned photographer Bruce Weber's first directorial effort tells the story of professional lightweight boxer Andy Minsker and his small boxing club in Portland, Oregon. Shot in smoky black and white and interspersed with luxurious color sequences, BROKEN NOSES traces Andy's boxing career with the U.S. Olympic Boxing Association, his fights in Las Vegas and his training of the young men he's almost adopted as his own sons. But this portrait goes far beyond the world of bong as we learn that Minsker was raised in a troubled broken home with a stepfather who physically abused him. Remarkably unattected by this, Minsker reveals both a boxer's splendor and a lifetime of unrealized pain.

Set to a smooth jazz score by such greats as Chet Baker (the subject of Weber's award-winning LET'S GET LOST), Gerry Mulligan and Julie London, BROKEN NOSES is an auspicious debut for director Bruce Weber.
