One of my favourite recent discoveries is the body of work of Zoltán Jókay. This is the stunning book der, die, das. By photographing people in their immediate environment, he produced a sociological fingerprint of ‘small-town Germany’. Jókay shot the portraits in Ravensburg, Germany of mostly children and young adults. His sensitive and sympathetic eye explores youth, community and the mixing of cultures in rural Europe. Haunting & heartfelt at the same time. Stunning.
