Chris Marker was a French writer, photographer, documentary film director, multimedia artist and film essayist. His best-known films are La Jetée, A Grin Without a Cat and Sans Soleil as well as post-homous collaborations with Comme Des Garcons amongst others. Staring Back presents over 200 black and white images constricted from Marker's own archive. The central theme is Marker's photographs of political protests dating back to the 1960s, as well as images of his cult classic films and the inner works of his work.
