This is the English version of Nathan Farb's cult classic Russe; The Russians is a stunning collection of images taken in Novosibirsk, USSR in the late 70s. It has an almost fashion editorial approach to these unique studio portraits, full of diverse characters. 

The photos themselves allowed to be taken out of the USSR in a diplomatic pouch and 1980 became this incredible and rare book.
