Margaret Thatcher was the prime minister; the Falklands War raged, and unemployment and social unrest dominated the headlines. It was a mess. Amidst all this chaos, gangs of kids in the working-class suburbs went along with their lives, listening to ska and punk music while pretending the outside world doesn't exist.
